在成为好莱坞之前，比佛利山庄的街区，是加利福尼亚地区众多的西班牙牧场之一。到了20世纪初，即美国影视业的“黄金时代”，这个地区达成了某种意义上的建筑觉醒，现在被称为西班牙殖民地复兴。

大批的演员、制片人和导演蜂拥而至，都在山上搭建房子，清一色的陶土瓦屋顶、白色的墙壁、曲软的拱形门和精雕的木门。

Chapter 1

Interior designers of the 21st century are constantly finding ways to reform these Spanish Colonial homes without poking holes in history.

总部位于洛杉矶的KES Studio也加入了这些室内设计师的行列，改造了一位知名女商人的比佛利山庄住宅。他们对优雅的细节和庇护所般的空间有着精准的调度和敏锐的感知，从而打造了一个既精雕细琢又极具个性的家。

Los Angeles-based practice KES Studio joins the ranks of these interior designers, rewriting a home in Beverly Hills owned by a high-profile businesswoman. Together they share a keen eye for elegant details and sanctuary-like spaces, endorsing a home that is both sensibly crafted and deeply personal.

Chapter 2

KES工作室总监Kara Smith解释了她是如何从家庭的“内在精神”和客户的个人风格中汲取灵感的——这种风格是她极为欣赏的。

KES Studio director Kara Smith explains how she drew inspiration for the home’s “inner spirit” and from the client’s style – a style that she strongly aligned with. 

“业主和我的个人审美大多一致，所以我可以自由探索并引入真正能表达我想法的设计元素，”她一边说着，一边介绍了设计选用的主要元素-有机的曲线、温暖的中性色和天然的材料。

 “Many of our personal tastes aligned, so I was given latitude to explore and bring design elements that really spoke to me,” she says while citing the home’s organic curves, warm neutrals and natural materials. 

“我特别喜欢中性色，它们构成了这个家庭空间的主要配色。”起居室的奶油色沙发，天然的原木桌和纯朴的大理石矮几赋予了一种低调而凝练的优雅氛围。

“I particularly love playing with neutrals, which make up most of the home’s material palette.” Materials like the cream-coloured sofas， natural wooden round table and pure marble tea table, all in the living space , impart an understated and elegant interior.

Chapter 3

酒吧恰似一个扬声器，由表及里的反映出客户爱娱乐喜繁华的时尚个性。在这里，以一扇钢架门巧妙实现了室内外的无缝连接。

The bar has a speakeasy essence, all the while reflecting the client’s stylish personality and love for entertaining. Here, a sense of indoor-outdoor connection is achieved through steel-framed doors.

厨房采用硬木地板，以回应客户对柔和的中性色调的偏好。

The kitchen have been relaid with hardwood floors, responding to the client’s penchant for soft, neutral tones.

有机曲线-设计师和客户都喜欢的装饰元素-给内饰带来一种灵动的俏皮感。

Organic curves-an element both Kara and the designer are fond of-bring a sense of playfulness to the interior.

新· 意之交融

Chapter 4

比佛利山庄住宅的重要之处在于，尽管KES工作室的以往风格确实与房子的“旧式的西班牙风格”有很大的不同，但他们还是给予它一份原始建筑的敬意。

What’s significant about Beverly Hills Residence is that while KES Studio did drift substantially from the home’s “dated Spanish look”, they have approached it in a way that still pays homage to the original architecture.

Kara说：“我们决定拥抱这个地方，创造一个具有强烈地域感的氛围。”。从一开始，这个住宅的设计方案就围绕着“加州的舒适”和“现代化的古老魅力”这两主题展开。

“We decided to embrace the locale and create an atmosphere with a strong sense of place,” Kara says. From the onset, the home’s design scheme revolved around the qualities of “California ease” and “modernised old glamour”.

Chapter 5

“天然的材质给家一种平静和欢迎的感觉，也突出了客户形形色色的艺术藏品，”Kara 说。

“The natural materials give the home a calming and welcoming feel but also accentuates the client’s extensive art collection,” Kara says.

With a renewed definition on contemporary living and personal expression, KES Studio have written another chapter in California’s rich design story collection.
